If Pleasure Has Been Feeling Distant, Read This

Hi Reader,

Have you ever noticed that the harder you try to feel pleasure, desire, or connection, the further away it seems to get?

Many people assume something is wrong with them when pleasure feels out of reach. But often, this experience has less to do with brokenness and more to do with protection.

When we're carrying stress, anxiety, overwhelm, grief, relationship pain, or simply moving through life in survival mode, our nervous system can prioritize safety over pleasure. Sometimes what we experience as numbness, low desire, or disconnection is actually our body's way of asking us to slow down.

Here are a few gentle practices you can try this week:

✨ Notice moments of ease. Instead of searching for pleasure, look for even 5% more comfort, softness, or neutrality in your body.

✨ Release expectations. Give yourself permission to be present with what is, rather than what you think you should be feeling.

✨ Let your body lead. Ask yourself, "What would feel supportive right now?" and trust the smallest answer.

Reflection Prompts:

🌿 When do I feel most connected to myself and my body?

🌿 What helps me feel safe enough to soften, even a little?

I recently wrote a blog exploring why pleasure can feel distant and how healing often begins with creating safety within ourselves. If you'd like to read it, you can find it here:

As always, thank you for allowing me to be part of your healing journey.

Warmly,

P.S. If you've found support through my content, meditations, or therapy practice, a Google review is one of the most meaningful ways to help others find a safe space for their own healing journey. There is never any pressure, but if you feel called to share your experience, I am deeply grateful for your support. ❤️

Hi Reader, For many people, feeling disconnected from the body can happen slowly over time. Stress, trauma, anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, or simply moving too fast can create distance between the mind and body. A guided pleasure meditation can offer a gentle way to reconnect with sensation without pressure, expectation, or performance. Reconnecting with pleasure is not about forcing yourself to feel something. It is about creating enough safety for your nervous system to soften...

Hi Reader, Have you ever wanted intimacy, connection, or pleasure—but noticed your body tensing up, shutting down, or emotionally disconnecting instead? If so, you're not alone. Many people assume something is wrong with them when pleasure feels difficult to access. But often, the issue isn't a lack of desire—it's a nervous system that's trying to protect you. Your body is constantly scanning for safety. If past experiences taught your nervous system that closeness felt overwhelming,...

INTIMA: July 2026 Create Safety for Insight When Healing Feels Quiet: Learning to Trust the Slow Return of Connection Hi Reader Opening Reflection There’s a particular kind of loneliness that can happen during healing — the kind that appears when things are technically “getting better,” but your body still doesn’t fully believe it yet. Maybe conversations are softer now. Maybe conflict doesn’t escalate the way it used to. Maybe closeness has begun to return in small, fragile moments. And yet…...
